Yo my gals, guys, dolls, and miscellaneous figures. William here and I have fucked everything up on my computer and will be spending the next few days trying to recoup.
Summary:
- NSW Department of Education closes school emails.
- Windows keeps bugging me that there is a problem with shared accounts and it has something to do with my high school email.
- I am unable to disconnect from my account.
- I may or may not have accidentally deleted my local user account from lusrmgr.
- I revert the update and return to another system restore point.
- I log in as admin and into safe mode and I get stuck in a safe mode with networking loop.
- I fix that.
- I begin to fix everything to get it back to normal.
- Some account issues begin showing up again.
- I install a Windows update.
- There is a bug that prevents me from signing in with any account outside of safe mode.
- I learn that the NTUSER.dat of my new account is probably corrupted.
- I change the NTUSER.dat for my account.
- There is now a sign-in loop.
- I reinstall Windows.
- I set up yet another new account.
- I set up a local account to change the User folder name.
- I am no longer able to open Microsoft Edge (I know, what a loss) and am unable to log in to my Microsoft account.
- I delete my user account because I'm a brain-dead moron thinking I had a backup. This delete my ENTIRE user folder including the desktop (where I store random projects) and downloads alongside AppData.
- I make yet another new account and start over nearly from scratch.
- I use a backup of the Desktop I made just half an hour before the whole charades.
- I can't use File History because Windows consider my computer a NEW desktop.
- I transfer over the old Desktop but LITERALLY every file has the suffix: (2020_07_23 22_16_45 UTC).
- I learn that I have never backed up my AppData, making me lose basically all of my Minecraft saves (Rest in peace: The Return - 31 August 2019 to 24 July 2020). :(
- My desktop icons are still messed up. (UPDATE FROM 25 JULY: The icons have fixed themselves!)
Just remember, things could get worse. I hope you've all had a great 23-24 July 2020 because mine has been... interesting. Yes, this was entirely my fault. Anyone else would have been content with an annoying reminder. I wasn't and I paid the price of not backing up.
Me reconstructing my desktop from an unlisted livestream after my first stuff-up. After my second one, I used a screenshot of me reconstructing my desktop from a livestream to reconstruct my desktop.
Remember to back up your stuff for the love of the Holy Sheep.
By William.
